MyBook - The Audition Book in App Form

MyBook has been developed as a comprehensive tool for musical theatre artists, aiming to enhance their organizational skills and preparedness for auditions, as well as supporting their overall artistic journey. The app serves as a digital repository for audition materials, facilitating easy storage and access to a range of musical theatre repertoire, including songs, librettos, scripts, and sides. MyBook features a dual-mode system comprising an Edit mode and a Performance mode.

Edit Mode:

• Users can create song entries by uploading PDF files and assigning relevant metadata such as Title, Composer, and Show/Album. These entries are organized alphabetically under the MyMusic section.
• Actors have the capability to create multiple books within the app, allowing for comprehensive preparation for varied audition scenarios. These collections are stored in the MyBooks section.
• Integration of songs into customized books is simple; users can select from their created songs or share directly from the MyMusic section.
• The app accommodates an unlimited number of books, enabling artists to keep various genres—such as Pop/Rock or Golden Age—in one centralized location without the burden of physical binders.
• It also allows for the creation of different audition books for specific cuts: 32-bar cuts, 16-bar cuts, or full-length versions. This versatility is further enhanced by our duplication feature, which enables users to easily generate multiple versions of the same song for different audition requirements.
• Editing sheet music is made effortless with tools including Pen, Highlighter, Eraser, Text, and Undo/Redo options. Additionally, users can upload sound clips linked to specific songs to support practice and performance.

Performance Mode:

• This mode presents a curated selection of materials in a user-friendly format designed for accompanists, featuring an accessible table of contents that simplifies navigation through song choices.
• The table of contents displays essential information such as title, composer, and show/album to instill confidence in accompanying performances.
• Accompanists can easily swipe or tap through songs displayed on a brightly lit screen, eliminating confusion over traditional paper formats.
• All editing options are hidden during performances to prevent any unintended alterations to sheet music while supporting performers’ success in auditions.

The MyBook app effectively modernizes the audition process for actors while promoting sustainability through reduced paper usage.

In addition to its main functionalities, MyBook is dedicated to supporting aspiring artists by offering a free student version accessible through valid university or school emails. Students can create accounts to gain complete access to app features with the ability to upload up to 10 songs at no cost.
